Answer:

Explanation:

so the question wants us to find 3 things, what is x?, what is the answer substituted ? and what is a wrong value of x?

Knowing that 40 is divisible by 8 but our answer is -5 we have to convert our 8 to negative 8 so the equation works as -8 times -5 is 40,40 divided by -8 is -5 and 40 divided by -5 is -8 so x would be -8 and the equation would be -5 = -5 which is true

now for the second part you can put -9 or something that isn’t -8 as long as it’s not -8 you should be fine so I’ll use 9.40 divided by 9 is 4.4 repeating and is not -5

Value of x that makes the equation true is -8 and the equation turns into 40 over -8 = 5
