If your subtracting mixed fractions and you add the common denominator and still isnt enough what do you do???

10 1/3 + 3/3= 4/3
11/3 11/3

Okay so if you rewrite the sum and just separate it into bits, the sum is: 10 + 1/3 + 3/3

First do the fractions.

1/3 + 3/3 = 4/3

Next you must simplify 4/3.

1 and 1/3

You get 1 and 1/3 because 4 ÷ 3 = 1 R 1

You put that R 1 over the denominator, and get 1/3.

Then you add it all together.

10 + 1 = 11

11+ 1/3 = 11 1/3
