Answer: x=10

Explanation:

1/5(x-2)=1/10(x+6)

Distribute and multiply first

(1/5*x) -(1/5*2)=(1/10*x) +(1/10*6)

1/5x-2/5=1/10x+6/10

We do not have the same denominators on both sides. 5 goes into 10 two times so we will multiply everything on the left by 2 to get a common denominator.

2/10x-4/10=1/10x+6/10

Subtract 1/10x from both sides

1/10x-4/10=6/10

Add 4/10 to both sides

1/10x=10/10

1/10x= 1

Multiply both sides by 10/1 (the fraction inverse) to get rid of the fraction.

(10/1)(1/10x) =(1)(10/1)

x= 10

Check work:

1/5(x-2)=1/10(x+6)

Substitute your answer for x

1/5(10-2)=1/10(10+6)

1/5(8)=1/10(16)

8/5=16/10

Simplify 16/10 by dividing by 2

8/5=8/5

Answer: The answer is 10

Explanation:

Distribute 1(x-2)/5 = 1(x+6)/10

x-2/5 = x+6/10

Multiply by 10 on each side

2(x - 2) = x + 6

Distribute

2x - 4 = x + 6

Add 4 on each side

2x= x + 10

Subtract x

x = 10
