4. Hulago 'Halaku' Khan attacked Baghdad. The siege of Baghdad by Mongols continued for many days. When they captured the city, they burned and destroyed all the famous buildings, learning institutes, forts, gardens, and even libraries. The Mongols killed the men, children and women. Bagdad, which was famous for its grandeur, modern education, and Islamic architecture, was completely ruined.
