1. The massive collection of laws passed by the Roman assemblies or decreed by the Roman emperors.

2. Justinian's code impacted more than just the Byzantine empire and spread all throughout Europe. This set an example for most monarchs and set guidelines for them to follow.

3. Justinian's code is important because it gives us an idea of what laws were instituted back then and what laws people had to follow.
