Domain = (-8,∞)

Range = (-∞,6)

Explanation:

Solving Notes:

  • Domain is horizontal so it is the width of x
  • Range is vertical so it is the height of y
  • Points that are filled in (solid black circles) indicate that the number does NOT include the number. In notation, we use ()'s.
  • Points that are hollow (white circles) indicate that the number DO include the number. In notation, we use []'s.
  • Arrows indicate continuing into infinity
  • Use ()'s when using ∞

Domain:

For domain, we are looking for line width. From the graph, it begins at -8 and uses a solid point indicating that -8 is NOT included.

The arrow on the right end indicates going into infinity. We use ()'s for infinity so:

Range:
