Suppose there is a 1.2 drop in temperature for every thousand feet that an airplane climbs into the sky. If the temperature on the ground is 51.5​, what will be the temperature when the plane reaches an altitude of 3,000ft​?

47.9

Explanation:

Since there is a drop in temperature of 1.2 for every 1000 feet,

For 3000 feet the drop would be 1.2 x (3000/1000) = 1.2 x 3 = 3.6

Since ground temperature is 51.5, actual temperature at 3,000 feet is
51.5 - 3.6 = 47.9
