The value of 1 tenth is less than the value of 1 ten

Explanation:

1 tenth = 0.1
1 ten = 10

0.1 is way less than 10 so that is why 3 x 1/10 is less than 3 x 10. Even though the 3 is the same, 1/10 is less than 10 so that is why 3 x 1/10 has less value.
