Answer: Rational

========================================================

Reason:

Any rational number is a fraction of two integers. In this case, the two integers are 1 and 999.

Other examples of rational numbers include the following:

  • 2/3
  • 6/17
  • -1/4
  • -55/92

Pick any two of your favorite integers on the number line, then divide them to form a fraction. That will form a rational number. The two numbers you pick could be positive or negative.

Note: you can never have 0 in the denominator. Dividing by zero is not allowed. Try out something like 2/0 in your calculator and it will say "undefined", "not a number", "NaN", or "error".
