Question:

\sqrt{4 + √( x ) } = 1 + √(3)

Solution:

( \sqrt{4 + √(x) } {)}^(2) = (1 + { √(3) })^(2)

4 + √(x) = {( 1+ √(3) })^(2)

4 + √(x) = 1 + 2 √(3) +( √(3) {)}^(2)

4 + √(x) = 1 + 2 √(3) + 3

4 + √(x) = 4 + 2 √(3)

√(x) = 4 + 2 √(3) - 4

√(x) = 2 √(3)

( √(x) {)}^(2) = {2}^(2) * ( √(3) {)}^(2)

x = 4 * 3

Therefore:
x = 12

I hope this helps.
