Let x +2 = the next odd integer

x + 8(x +2) = 43 Distribute the 8

x + 8x + 16 = 43 Add the x's

9x + 16 = 43 Subtract 16 from both sides

9x = 27 Divide both sides by 9

x = 3

This is your first number. The next consecutive odd integer would be 5. (x + 2)
