Answer is 25 = .50x + 1.50
( x is solved for 47 miles)

25 is the known total “y”
.50 is the rate
X is the unknown miles
1.50 is the y intercept

Solve for x

Subtract 1.50 from each side to isolate x

25 - 1.50 = .50x + 1.50 - 1.50

23.50 = .50x

Solve for x by dividing both sides by .50

47 = x

Check your work.

25 = ( .50 x 47)+ 1.50

25 = 23.50 + 1.50

25 = 25

Problem solved!
