Answer : Point slope form = y - 7 = -9(x-5)

Slope intercept form = y = -9x +52

Given :-

  • A line passes through (5,7) having a slope of -9 .

To Find :-

  • The equation of the line in slope intercept form and point slope form.

We know that point slope form of the line is,

→ y - y' = m(x - x')

where (x',y') is the point and m is the slope . On substituting the respective values, we have,

y - 7 = -9(x -5)

Now we know that slope intercept form of the line is,

→ y = mx + c

where m is the slope of the line and c is y intercept. On simplifying the above equation, we have,

→ y -7 = -9x +45

→ y = -9x +45+7

→ y = -9x + 52

I hope this helps.
