Explanation:

Substitution means to substitute a variable with the other variable in the equation.

Like, in this equation, y = -5x.

Substituting it in the equation y = 2x - 14, we get,

=> -5x = 2x - 14

=> -7x = -14

=> 7x = 14

=> x = 2

Now, putting value of x in y = -5x, we get,

y = -5 (2) = -10
