Energy cannot be created nor destroyed. Energy is converted into different forms to preserve it. (Take a roller coaster cart at the top of the hump. Different forms may be "created" like kinetic energy, and potential energy may be "destroyed". But in reality, potential energy just converts to kinetic. The cart at the top is potential. The cart moving down is kinetic.)
