What do you use to state and support a position in an argumentative essay? Explain the process and how the different elements work together.

You should have an introductory paragraph - provide an outline if you can

You should provide your thesis statement - one sentence that summarizes your main point or your claim. Don't be wishy washy on this. Make it a statement so that someone will automatically understand your argument.

You should have 3 or more paragraphs. Provide some examples and research. You can use text citations and provide a conclusion. The conclusion should be a paragraph all on its own. Restate your thesis, summarize the arguments, and make it personal - show some emotion :)

Be sure that when you state an argument - you can refute it, or that you can give facts - not opinions - related to the subject.

So, try to do 5 paragraphs in all. Indent. Make sure your sentences make sense, and be sure to use correct capitalization and punctuation.
