Louis Pasteur was one of the many people who started an area of science called microbiology. He's mainly known for his work with milk. Pasteur noticed milk that is about two days old starts to develop bacteria. This makes it dangerous drink, and people could catch diseases if they continue to drink it. This process is called, "pasteurisation".
