Answer:

2x^2 + 2x - 83 = 0

Explanation:

Consecutive integers differ by 1

Let the first number be x

The next will be (x+1)

The sum of the squares of these two numbers is 85

so we have;

x^2 + (x + 1)^2 =85

= x^2 + x^2 + 2x + 2 = 85

2x^2 + 2x + 2-85 = 0

2x^2 + 2x - 83 = 0
