When blood glucose levels are too high, Insulin is produced by the Pancreas and binds to receptors in our liver to convert glucose to glycogen where it is stored.

when blood glucose levels are too high, Glucagon is produced by the Pancreas and binds to receptors in our liver to convert glycogen back to glucose to be used by the body.

in each case, blood sugar levels return to normal range. this is called homeostasis.
