What do the languages Spanish and Portuguese have in common? They are both almost extinct languages. Both evolved from Latin as their countries were part of the Roman Empire. Both are difficult to learn for Americans. Both are spoken by the Romany population in Rome.

Both evolved from Latin as their countries were part of the Roman Empire.

Spanish and Portuguese evolved from vulgar latin.
