Think of the solids and liquids that you encounter every day. In what ways are solids and liquids similar? In what ways are they different?

Answer:

Solids and liquids are both states of matter and have a definite volume. However, a solid has a definite shape and a liquid does not (can flow). In a liquid, the atoms are loosely bonded and far apart from each other (not as far as gases). Solids vibrate tightly together.
