The diagonal of a rectangle is 13 units. One side of the rectangle is 12 units. Find the length of the shortest side of the rectangle.

Answer:

Diagonal of the rectangle = 13 units c =13

side of rectangle = 12 units a = 12

area of the rectangle = l× b

In rectangle all the corner angle is 90 degree. A diagonal of the rectangle forms two right angle.so we use Pythagoras theorem.

formula ; a²+b²=c² a = 12 , c = 13

12²+b² = 13²

144 + b² = 169

b² = 169 - 144

=25

b = 5 units

a = 12 units
