Explanation:

Triangle ABC is an isosceles triangle. That means Side CA equals Side CB.

Drawing an altitude line from point A, it divides Side CB into halves. 1/2 of 12 = 6. (Let's call that point M)

Side AM^2 = AC^2 - CM^2

---------------------> 12^2 - 6^2 = 144 -36 = 108

AM =
√(108) = 6
√(3)

To find the area: CB * AM * 1/2

---------------------> 12 * 6
√(3) * 1/2 = 36
√(3)

36
√(3) as a decimal is approximately 62.35
