First person I think of is Odysseus when reading this....

Why I think of Odysseus because the "fake horse" was the Trojan horse that was gifted to there enemies. In the Trojan War story (Greek Myth) Odysseus was one of the men who hid in the horse. Then it says " I will have many adventures. I will meet giants and witches and see strange lands," referring to Polyphemus the Cyclops "giants," "lands" like Circe's Island "witches" like Circe herself who could men to animals . ".....I return home. Until I see my family again," referring to his son Telemachus and wife Penelope in Ithaca. ("The Odyssey," another Greek Myth).
