each side of larger triangle = 3×53 = 159

perimeter of larger triangle = 159+159+168 = 486 mm

Use Pythagorean theorem,

hypotenuse² = base² + altitude²

= 28² + 45²

= 784 + 2025

= 2809

hypotenuse = √2809 = √53 * 53 = 53 mm
