The Direct Object, also called Direct Complement, is the part of the sentence that receives the action of the verb.

Its function is to replace a person, animal or thing in conversation as well as in writing to avoid repetition; when they have already been seen in a sentence or external context where the statement occurs.

The Direct Object can answer the questions what? or who?; with respect to the verb.

Examples:
• Ayer vi una obra de teatro. (Yesterday I saw a play)
Ayer la vi. (yesterday I saw)

• Conozco a tu hermano. (I know your brother)
Lo conozco. (I know him)

Brother is masculine, therefore, it is the pronoun LO.

Answer:

Spanish:

Los pronombres de objeto indirecto en español se utilizan para reemplazar una palabra o frase, que en la oración, cumple esa función. Por lo general, se colocan antes del verbo, cuando este está conjugado. Si el verbo no está conjugado, entonces el pronombre de objeto indirecto se coloca después del verbo.

English:

The Spanish indirect object pronouns are used to replace a word or phrase, which in the sentence, fulfills that function. They are usually placed before the verb, when this is conjugated. If the verb is not conjugated, then the indirect object pronoun is placed after the verb
