Well we know 8x - 2y = 1 and -4x + y = 3

We’re looking for x and y.

Let’s do the y = mx + b form of this

-2 = 8x + 1

-2 = 8x + 1

-2 + 1 = 1

8x = 1

The x needs to equal 1/8 or 0.125

8 • 0.125 = 1

Then do the other one but plug in the numbers

y = -4(0.125) + 3

y = 0.5 + 3

y = 3.5

Though I’m sure there are multiple answers to these.
