Harry Potter’s family was magical, though killed by a power-hungry Dark Wizard. The Dark Wizard was apparently killed in the attempt. Harry was left to live but just a scar to remember the occasion, and attended the same school as his parents to harness his magical power. Turns out the power-hungry wizard, or Voldemort, wasn’t dead and came back multiple times but is defeated by Harry time and time again. The reason Voldemort wasn’t dead is because he split his soul and placed it in multiple objects, which had to be destroyed. Harry destroyed them all, but turns out a part of Voldemort’s soul was in him. So he was purposely killed by Voldemort, though only the piece of Voldemort’s soul in him was destroyed, and Harry lived. So Harry came back to life and defeated Voldemort due to Harry’s advantage, namely control over the wand Voldemort was using.
