Ginger is selling soaps at a craft fair. It costs her

$33.25 to rent the booth at a craft fair plus $.75 to make
each soap. She sells the soaps for $2.50 each. After how
many soaps will Ginger's sales be the same as the cost to
rent the booth and make the soaps?

Make an equation with variables on both sides.

To find out how many soaps Ginger needs to sell in order to cover the cost of renting the booth and making the soaps, we can set up an equation with variables on both sides.

Let "x" be the number of soaps she needs to sell.

The cost to rent the booth and make the soaps is given by:
Cost = Booth Rent + (Cost per soap * Number of soaps)

Cost = $33.25 + ($0.75 * x)

The revenue from selling the soaps is given by:
Revenue = Selling Price per soap * Number of soaps

Revenue = $2.50 * x

To find the point at which Ginger's sales cover her costs, we set these two equations equal to each other:

$2.50 * x = $33.25 + ($0.75 * x)

Now, solve for "x":

$2.50x - $0.75x = $33.25

$1.75x = $33.25

Divide both sides by $1.75 to isolate "x":

x = $33.25 / $1.75

x = 19

So, Ginger needs to sell 19 soaps to cover the cost of renting the booth and making the soaps.
