Reread this passage from "The School Days of an Indian Girl," and think about it as textual evidence for a theme.

"Later, the decision of the judges awarded me the first place. Then there was a mad uproar in the hall, where my classmates sang and shouted my name at the top of their lungs; and the disappointed students howled and brayed in fearfully dissonant tin trumpets."
Which theme would this passage support?

Love conquers all, if one is simply patient.

True friendship may require great sacrifice.

Family comes first in the minds of Americans.

Adversity often leads to personal growth.
