Answer:

a₉₆ = - 1156

Explanation:

the nth term of an arithmetic sequence is

a_(n) = a₁ + d(n - 1)

where a₁ is the first term , d the common difference , n the term number

here a₁ = - 16

d = a₂ - a₁ = - 28 - (- 16) = - 28 + 16 = - 12 , and n = 96 , then

a₉₆ = - 16 + (- 12 × 95) = - 16 + (- 1140) = - 16 - 1140 = - 1156
