The answer is:

n = 26/5

Work/explanation:

The difference is the result of subtracting one number from another one.

So the difference of twice a number and 9 means we subtract twice a number (let n be that number) and 9: 2n - 9

Next, 5 times that difference is 5(2n - 9)

Finally, this equals 7 : 5(2n - 9) = 7

__________________________________________________________

Use the distributive property

\sf{5(2n-9)=7}

\sf{10n-45=7}

Add 45 on each side

\sf{10n=7+45}

\sf{10n=52}

Divide each side by 10

\sf{n=(52)/(10)}\\\\\\\sf{n=(26)/(5)}

Hence, n = 26/5.
