A scale model of a building has a scale of 3 : 77.

The height of the real building is 15 m.
Find the height of the scale model.
Give your answer in cm to 2 dp.

Explanation:

Since the height of the real building is 15 m

and the scale is 3:77

then, the height of the model and the height of the building must also satisfy this scale, if we let the height of the model be x then,

The height of the model and the building satisfy the following ratio,


x/15 = 3/77\\x = (15)(3/77)\\x = 45/77

so, the scale model will have a height of 45/77 m

But we have to find the answer in cm and up to 2 decimal points,

now,

x = 45/77 = 0.58442 m

Converting this to centimeters,

x = (0.58442 m)(100 cm/1 m)

(Since 1 m = 100 cm)

x = 58.442 cm

And, up to 2 decimal points, we have,

x = 58.44 cm
