There were many women who played important roles in the Black Power movement, including:
Angela Davis: a prominent activist, philosopher, and scholar who was a member of the Black Panther Party.
Assata Shakur: a member of the Black Liberation Army and a former member of the Black Panther Party, who is currently living in exile in Cuba.
Elaine Brown: the first and only woman to lead the Black Panther Party.
Kathleen Cleaver: an activist and former communications secretary of the Black Panther Party.
Ericka Huggins: a former leader of the Black Panther Party who organized community programs and initiatives.
Fannie Lou Hamer: a civil rights activist who helped organize voter registration drives and was a leader of the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party.
These women, and many others, were instrumental in advocating for black liberation, challenging racial and gender inequality, and promoting social and political change in the United States during the 1960s and 1970s.
