It would take 13 weeks. It can’t be 12 weeks because that’s only 168. 182 is enough for the trip.

$14x > $175
$14(13) > $175
$182 > $175

Answer:

13 weeks

Explanation:

You want to know how many weeks it takes to save at least $175 at the rate of $14 per week.

Solution

Let w represent the number of weeks Jacob saves $14 from his allowance. Then his total set-aside will be ...

14w

He wants this to be at least $175, so we can write the inequality ...

14w ≥ 175

w ≥ 12.5 . . . . . . divide by 14

The smallest integer that satisfies this inequality is w = 13.

It will take Jacob 13 weeks to save enough for the trip.
