Last week, the price of oranges at the farmer's market was $1.75 per

pound. This week, the price has decreased by 20%. What is the prics
of oranges this week?

Given:

price of oranges last week was = $1.75 per pound

price decreased = 20%



Then new price will be =(100-20)% of $1.75

 = 80% of $1.75

 = 80/100 × $1.75

on solving above we get:

  = 0.80 × $1.75

 = $ 1.40

Hence, the new prices of the Oranges is $1.40 per pound.
