Because the person is on the 4th floor, he/she is 12 x 4 = 48ft above the ground level.

We can construct a right-angled triangle with the angle of depression formed by the hypotenuse and the adjacent side.

The distance we need to find is the adjacent side's length. Call it x

The tangent of an angle in a right-angled triangle can be calculated by the formula : opposite/adjacent

-> tan(26) = 48/x
-> x = 48/tan(26) = 98.415ft (to 3 s.f)

Answer:98.4m

Explanation:

for this problem you are given a right triangle and a degree and a side in it. You have 48 m on one side becaus you are 4 stories up and each story is 12m and you are given 64degrees as it has a angle of depression 26*. So you must you SOHCAHTOA and TOA as you are finding the opposite in this case, the distance from the building to the car.

if you use TOA you should have, Tan(64)=x/48

then simplify 2.05=x/48

And multiply 48 to both sides to get

98.4m=x
