linear functions are written like y =mx + b or y = kx

They must have "x" in it and there cannot be a square root or exponent near x.

y = -2 does not have an x therefore it is not a linear equation

x² + y = 1 has an exponent so write away we can eliminate this because linear equations cant have exponents

y = 2√x has a square root so we can eliminate this answer choice as well

y = 4(2x) - 3 simplifies to y = 8x - 3 which is put in y = mx + b which is linear therefore this is the answer
