The tone of the sound and the frequency can both effect the music, sad or emotional music can make it more meaningful and happy or cheerful music can make it more upbeat.

Sad music can make the play sad and happy music can make a cheerful moment happy. If you play sad music over a happy part of the play it might be misinterpreted.
