“Although villagers had forgotten the ritual and lost the original black box, they still remembered to use stones” it’s towards in the end, the lottery is down to its essence in murder, villagers may speak on tradition, ritual, and history, but this quote points out, that the traditional parts of it have long been discharged. The original ritual and box may indeed have borne along a tradition, bizarre but now with without the original trappings, songs, and procedures, still remains is the violence, the villagers are too eager to embrace what’s left remain which be picking up stones and keeping (following) the tradition for another year.
