The value of x in the diagram is 5.66

Using Trigonometry, we can calculate the height of the triangle thus ;

  • sin(30) = opposite/ Hypotenus

Now we have ;

0.5 = height / 8

height = 4

Using the height value, we can calculate, x :

sin(45) = opposite/Hypotenus

sin(45) = 4 / x

x = 4 / sin(45)

x = 5.66
