The amount of steel required to make 297 rods is; 128761.4 m²

What is the surface area of a cylinder?

The formula for the surface area of a cylinder is;

S.A = 2πr² + 2πrh

Where;

r is radius

h is height

We are given:

Radius = 3 cm

Height = 20 cm

Thus:

S.A = 2π(3)² + 2π(3 * 20)

S.A = 433.54 m²

Thus;

Steel to make 297 rods = 297 * 433.54

= 128761.4 m²

Complete question is;

A company makes steel rods shaped like cylinders. Each rod has a radius of 3 centimeters and a height of 20 centimeters. How much steel will the company need to make 297 rods?
