What is the digestive system?
The digestive system performs the crucial task of breaking down food into smaller, absorbable nutrients vital for energy, growth, and repair. Comprising a network of organs and structures, it collaborates harmoniously to process food, extract essential nutrients, and expel waste.
These depicted structures form the upper gastrointestinal system, initiating the primary phases of food digestion and transportation. Subsequently, the partially digested food progresses into the lower gastrointestinal tract, where advanced digestion and absorption of nutrients take place.
