Why might it be debated that using wood for energy is a non-renewable resource?

It would be debated that using wood for energy would make it a non-renewable source because.... it is like oil. Oil is used for energy and is a non-renewable source. And in my opinion, I feel like it could be debated as a non-renewable source because you have to cut down trees to get wood and that is kind of a lot of work.
