Answer:

y = - 2x - 7

Explanation:

the equation of a line in slope- intercept form is

y = mx + c ( m is the slope and c the y- intercept )

calculate the slope m , using the slope formula

m =
(y_(2)-y_(1) )/(x_(2)-x_(1) )

let (x₁, y₁ ) = (- 5, 3) and (x₂, y₂ ) = (0, - 7) ← 2 points on the line

substitute these values into the formula for m

m =
(-7-3)/(0-(-5)) =
(-10)/(0+5) =
(-10)/(5) = - 2

the line crosses the y- axis at (0, - 7 ) , then c = - 7

y = - 2x - 7 ← equation of line
