Answer:

y=1/5x-7

Explanation:

If it is perpendicular to the line y=-5x +2, then it means it must be perpendicular to the slope which would mean the slope of our new equation would have to be 1/5 because that is the negative reciprocal of -5.

Now we must make it go through the point (0, -7)

This is simple enough you don't have to do any additional arithmetic because this is the y-intercept and the y-intercept is the same as the b value, meaning that we have our answer of y=1/5x -7

Answer:

ok so y+2 = (-5/2)(x-2)

just plug in the negative inverse of 2/5 as the slope of the perpendicular, m=-5/2 and the point (2,-2) as (h,k) in the point slope formula. h=2, k=-2

y - k = m(x-h)

Explanation:

omg and i just understood now its A perpendicular line to the given line will have a slope of -1/m or -5/2 in this case.

y-y1 = m(x-x1) --> y-(-2) = -5/2(x-2) --> y+2 = -5x/2 + 5

y = -5x/2 + 3
