If there are 5 sides and all of them have the same number then you add all of it to get the perimeter.

If one side is 7 and there is 5, you can do multiplication ( 7 x 5 )

OR

You can do 7 + 7 + 7 + 7 + 7 ( 7 added, 5 times )

which equals 35.
