Dayany realized that she forgot to include a pumpkin field in her garden. She plans to use thesame amount of area that the tomatoes and squash occupy together and will plant right next to them on the west side of the field. She will keep all measurements in meters.

a. what will the perimeter of the pumpkin be?

b. find the total area of the pumpkin, tomato and squash fields.

c. if the x value is 4, what is the area in square meters of the answer from part b?

1. The perimeter of the pumpkin is (18x - 4) m

2. The total area of the pumpkin, tomato and squash fields is (14x² - 4x) m²

3. If the x value is 4, the area in square meter is 208 m².

What will the perimeter of the pumpkin be?

Tomatoes:

Length = 3x

Width= x

Squash:

Length = 4x - 2

Width = x

1.

Perimeter of pumpkin = perimeter of tomatoes + perimeter of squash

= 2(3x + x) + 2(4x - 2 + x))

= 2(4x) + 2(5x - 2)

= 8x + 10x - 4

= (18x - 4) m

2.

Total area = 2(area of tomatoes + area of squash)

= 2{(3x × x) + (4x - 2)x}

= 2(3x² + 4x² - 2x)

= 2(7x² - 2x)

= (14x² - 4x) m²

3.

If the x value is 4

(14x² - 4x) m²

= 14(4)² - 4(4)

= 14(16) - 16

= 224 - 16

= 208 m²
