Final answer:

If your PC sparked when turned on but now works fine, it's crucial to check for a potential electrical issue.

Step-by-step explanation:

If your newly built PC sparked when you first turned on the power supply but is now functioning normally, it could have been a one-time event due to a number of factors such as a short power surge or a loose connection that has since been resolved. However, it's important to stay vigilant as it could also be a sign of a potential electrical issue. To ensure safety and prevent potential damage to your computer or a fire hazard, I would recommend following these steps:

  • Power down your PC and unplug it from the power outlet.
  • Inspect the power supply unit (PSU) and all cables for any signs of damage or burn marks.
  • Ensure all connections within the PC are secure and properly seated.
  • If you are not comfortable with performing these checks or if you notice any damage, consult a professional technician.

If, after taking these precautionary steps, the computer continues to operate without any further incidents, it was likely an isolated incident. However, always exercise caution and regularly check your hardware for any irregularities.
