Aluminum is the pure metal element from which the Duralumin alloy is made.

Duralumin contains aluminum and copper. An alloy developed first by a German metallurgist. Dura is actually part of the trade name: dura for durable.

More durable than raw aluminum it is used in airplane frames, laminated with coat of aluminum. Combining strength of the alloy and corrosion resistance of pure aluminum.
